No New Rockstar Game Until 2017

We’re well into 2016 now and many of us were hoping Rockstar would be bringing out a big name game this year. That, however, is not going to happen and here’s why. They’re currently working on a sequel to Red Dead Redemption, whilst Grand Theft Auto V is still going strong so a new release is likely to be several years away. If rumours are true, Red Dead Redemption 2 will be ready late next year, but for now we’ll all just have to hold tight and play the Rockstar games we have over and over again until they finally give us a release that we’ve all been waiting for. If you’re fed up of waiting, there are plenty of other cool third world games on the market, including Mafia 3!

Game of Thrones – The Game

I didn’t know about this one until recently and it was released in 2014, but Telltale’s Game of Thrones is set in the world of HBO’s groundbreaking TV show and it’s available on the PS4. This story tells of House Forrester, a noble family from the north of Westeros, loyal to the Starks of Winterfell. Caught up in the events surrounding the War of the Five Kings, they are thrown into a maelstrom of bloody warfare, revenge, intrigue, and horror as they fight to survive while the seven kingdoms tear themselves apart. Most of the characters look the part and though the gameplay isn’t the best, the storyline will have you hooked just like the TV series. It’s gory too, making it an 18 rating, but I can’t help but wait for the next one, because we’re now on season 7 of Game of Thrones and the storyline has evolved massively.

3 reasons why I still buy pre-owned games

Games

I know many people look at those who buy pre-owned games as weirdos, I know because I’ve seen those stares. I walk past a queue of kids holding the latest game in one hand and their mum’s hand in the other, as they’re not old enough to buy it in the first place. Let me tell you three reasons why I still buy pre-owned games.

They’re cheap

Don’t think I need to say anymore on this one.

I’m not with the times

I’m no longer at an age where I care about buying the latest releases. I’m slower, I play games less frequently and I can pick up a pre-owned copy of a game that’s several months old for £20. All I need to do is stay patient.

They work 99% of the time

I can’t say I’ve had any major problems with buying pre-owned games, so really what’s the point in a new one? Is it the plastic cover? I just don’t get it.

Becoming a game reviewer

Games

People always ask me how much I get paid to review games, and also how can they get into it? I usually give quite a straightforward response really; “no and start reviewing”. You don’t have to have a fancy website or 1 million fans on Facebook to review games, though it does help you make money. By practicing reviewing games, listing to others, commenting and sharing posts from other gamers, you can build up a bit of a reputation. That’s what I’ve done and it’s only taken a year or so. On the money side of things, I don’t do it for the cash, but I know people who do, and to get to a point where people pay for your opinion, you need to create a website with fantastic content that keeps them coming back for more.

EA Sports UFC 2

I’ve only recently got into UFC, so I never experienced the previous version of this game, but from what I’ve heard there have been some big improvements. EA Sports UFC 2 captures all of the splendor and spectacle that is Mixed Martial Arts. The visuals are incredible, and the game doesn’t hold back. The fighters really do pummel the hell out of each other within the confines of an octagon-shaped cage. It’s bloody and brutal entertainment at its best but there’s more to it than brutality. Tactics are involved, and if you go in for a move too early you could be punished, yet if you invite an attack you could get destroyed in a matter of seconds. Moving around the octagon in the right way is key. It took me a little while to get used to the controls, but I feel like I’m a bit of a master now, so if anyone wants to play me whilst I’m Conor McGregor, all I have to say is good luck!

What happened to the Nintendo Wii?

It’s one of those games consoles we’ve all had a play on, but not many people know what happened to it? When Xbox and PS4 released their new versions, the Wii was kicked back even further. What’s funny is that everyone remembers the launch of the PS4 and the Xbox One, but nobody remembers the release of the Wii U. It’s a console that never really got going, and as soon as PS4 and Xbox introduced their motion sensors, there wasn’t really much need to invest in a Wii and that’s where we’re at today. The only thing Nintendo has going for it is some of those popular titles like Mario, but it was a great console for bringing the family together. Nowadays each family member is playing their own games on their tablet or playing games on the PS4 or Xbox and don’t think there’s really any way back for the Wii now.
